Here at OneEighty Digital we believe we do our best work for you by getting to know you and your organization – your mission, your vision, the reason you do what you do. By knowing you well we understand that we can serve you better.

So in a true spirit of reciprocity, we thought we’d let you get to know us as well. Each of our lives tells a story of who we are and how God has brought us all together. Enjoy this interview with our Social and Client Success Manager Kelly McGee.

Here’s Kelly’s story.

Though originally from Pennsylvania, Kelly has been a Florida girl since her family moved to New Smyrna Beach when she was 14 years old. For college, Kelly found herself at the University of North Florida and after a brief stint in South Florida, Jacksonville has been her home ever since.

Growing up, Kelly was in and around church enough to know that she wanted God to be a big part of her life. She decided early on to make sure her own children would know God and make Him a part of their lives.

“I want my son to grow up believing in God and knowing there is a greater power – it’s important to me for him to know that,” Kelly said. “And I want to go on that journey with him. I want him to grow up knowing God and having a relationship with him.”

As it did for the majority of the world, the COVID-19 pandemic shook things up in Kelly’s world. Kelly found herself at home with a two-month-old son and unemployed as a result of the pandemic. Just as she was ready to start making new traditions with her young family, the world was put on lock-down. Church was just going to have to wait.

Kelly loved being a stay-at-home mom to her young son Wes and relished the luxury that she had been afforded – even though it wasn’t exactly what she thought her life was going to look like. But as life started to open up again, so did Kelly’s desire to use her areas of giftedness out in the world. And just about the time that Kelly felt ready for a new project, friend and former work colleague Cristy Bird reached out to tell Kelly about a new company she was working with called OneEighty Digital.

“As soon as I met with [OneEighty Digital’s Wesley Lewis], I knew it was a perfect fit,” she said.

Coming from a tech background, Kelly is able to use her experience and expertise to help churches and other organizations maximize their resources and potential. And since working with churches is a relatively new endeavor for Kelly, she gets the opportunity to learn and grow, maximizing her own potential.

“I love learning new things and I love helping churches,” she said.

With her unwavering attention to detail and her creative ability to fashion something new out of whatever is around (yep, the name MacGyver was thrown around), Kelly has quickly become an indispensable member of the OneEighty Digital Team.

Want to know a little more about Kelly? We can help you out with that!

What kinds of things do you and your family like to do?

Kelly said she, husband Paul and son Wes enjoy most outdoor activities. You can often find them hanging out at the beach or even just strolling through their neighborhood. When stuck inside, you might find them watching some Netflix. Now that little Wes is older and pandemic restrictions are easing, Kelly and her family are looking forward to doing some traveling.

What are you reading right now?

Kelly has recently joined her neighborhood’s book club. Through that she is hoping to be exposed to titles she may not normally pick up. Their first selection, The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller, is what she’s currently reading. Kelly loves mysteries and thrillers and true crime as well. On the non-fiction side of things, Kelly enjoyed Captivating by John and Stasi Eldredge and is reading Marketing Made Simple by Donald Miller.

If you could get a message to your younger self, what would it be?

“Enjoy the slow, quiet times. Time truly does go by quickly! Also, don’t be afraid to take chances. Do things that are out of your comfort zone or you will end up looking back on them wondering what if. “

If something in Kelly’s story resonates with you, we want to hear from you! If you would like to see how OneEighty Digital could help your church, we want to connect! Leave us a comment, send us an email or text or really go old school and give us a call! We can’t wait to find out how we can serve you!
